The 69 build Resto Rod D.D.
Well i,ve decided to make a project thread. Long story...sorry. When i was a wee lad (18) i built with all my heart my first engine and car ever, a 1987 monte carlo ss with a 350. Keep in mind i was doing construction and bringing home over $800 a week and lived with my parents. It still took me a SOLID year to build this car. I still remember every spec of that engine. It was Friggin Fast! out ran a friends 02 ls1 trans am 6 speed from a 80 roll... i had a th350 and a 3.73 gear. He had the advantage, no doubt. anyway, The bottom fell out of the housing market and my job. Ended up trading the monte for a 72 ironhead harley (idiot). Decided i liked having doors.. you know just incase i need a second chance. traded the harley for this truck. the guy that had it before me thought he knew how to build rat rods, wich ment he never did anything but let it rot and heated the springs to lower it. He also extended the rear shackles up THROUGH the damn bed floor. Now the story of the 69
It had manual 4 wheel drums and manual steering, on top of being too low on stock beams you couldn't turn or stop this truck to save your life... litteraly. I have pics of the monte if anyone is interested.

well. my ultimate goal is to have a fast (at least in to 11s) d.d. thats reliable and good looking. I've already started on the reliable and the good looks. When funds permit i will build this 460 i have. already have the engine and tranny, gaskets, rings, bearings, timing chain, perches, still looking for flat tops, cam oil/water pump, going to do my own head work. For now i'll just drive it with this worn out 302 in it. 'It has like 8 psi oil pressure at warm idle and shakes like a washing machine but dosent make a tick. i think its out of balance or something, but it's a ford so it will run like that for 20 more years you know.

The paint was were i decided to start. First i painted the grill wheels and tail light trim red (gotta have some contrast)
Then i came up on a set of "wheels"
OK let me explain. i traded a guy a pair of speakers for these wheels and tires w/ adaptors.

This is how she sits right now. waiting on the correct master cylinder to finish the brakes. I went back to the wagon wheels with some "real" tires on them and put big block springs in the front to bring it back up.
