Re: My '69 2wd Crew Cab Project
Thanks guys
I ended up drilling all the spot welds on the cowl and removing it, this truck is so rusty!!! Time to look for a good donor truck and get it back on the road. I also started working on the driver side floor pan.

Re: My '69 2wd Crew Cab Project
Last week I decided to finish rebuilding the c6 since I had an extra c6 from the parts truck that I needed a small part out of. It has all new clutches, bushings, seals, and I installed a B&M stage 1 shift kit. should be a nice transmission.
After I finished up the transmission I started focusing on the rusty areas of the cab. The closer and deeper I looked the more rust I found, at this point I would be wasting my time trying to fix about 20 rust spots. I had a few ideas on how to go about repairing the rust but I felt unsure so I waited it out and thought about it. My first idea that I was going to stick with, was drilling ALL the spot welds on both cabs and piece the puzzle back together, but with the amount of projects and space that I have this cant be a 5 year project.
So today it finally hit me! Simple! just cut the window posts and make a simple cut across the floor pan. That will leave me with only two posts to weld, rockers, a long floor pan weld and a fresh front half of the cab. Also the "replacement" pans and cab mounts dont fit worth a damn and they seem to thin for the crews weight anyway. Luckily from the trans cover back the floorpan is rust free on the crew! I took a bunch of measurements today and I have a good plan on how Im going to stitch it back together. Tuesday Im gonna have to go buy probably atleast 50 feet of steel tubing to brace it and make some jigs to align everything once again. Im a little intimidated taking this route but Ill take my time if i have to. Just looking at the big hole now in the front is scary but my vision for the finished product should look pretty good!

I thought I had a project ahead of me Holy crap man good work. I wonder what a welder would have charged you if you just brought those to trucks to him and told him what you wanted him to do. awsome work that is truly a piece of art.
contact me if you can help with information about my 67' f-250

Re: My '69 2wd Crew Cab Project
Started rust repair today, so far I have replaced both rear cab corners, patched passenger door pillar and the rear passenger door. All thats left on the passenger side is to weld up the trim holes on the front door and the common rust spot in the lower rear corner of the door. The driver side isnt as bad so hopefully by the end of the week I can start sanding it down and laying down some filler and then block sand until my arms fall off.
When I was installing the front door I was gettin really worried, I lined the door up where it was on the parts truck cab and gave it a push. It closed by itself and fit really well for the first try!!! I guess I measured correctly!
