Re: 69 F100 Ranger project- 11/30 stripping/por-15
Havent gotten too much done lately since i just enilated my funds with some nice heads/intake for the 71 f250 (see other project build thread).
Old bushings ripped out, including outer shells (what a PITA )
New bushings in
Painted trans hump/fuel filler guard
Gas lines routed (bent metal line for the underbed, long rubber to go to engine)
Got a disk brake front end, stripped the beams. got it all for $80
Got one side's top leaf spring in
after starting to take it back out
picked up a 390 crank. So i am definately turning the 360 into a 390. other 390 crank is for the 71.
tomorrow i have school off so i should get quite abit done.

Re: 69 F100 Ranger project- 1/18 front discs, rear bushings
Looks good. I ordered the same PST rear bushing kit you did. I think you got the last set in stock because they said it was going to be a couple of weeks before they got more in. Oh well. I'm not in a hurry.

Re: 69 F100 Ranger project- 1/18 front discs, rear bushings
oops, sorry
to get the old bushings out, i used a drill and a screwdriver to pry the rubber out after the drill broke the rubber apart. then once the center and rubber was removed, i got the sawzall (however you spell it) and cut two grooves in the outer shell (make sure the grooves go through the whole shell or else you will have a fun time prying the piece out that you just cut Then you can get vice grips and pull the shell out, but get it started with a hammer.
visual..
some of them were hard to get back in, i used a rubber mallet and a big vice. hope that helps.

Re: 69 F100 Ranger project- 1/18 front discs, rear bushings
Thanks for the heads up. I had seen other posts about it and the sazall is the way to go. I have a nice one with a good selection of blades so I should be ok. It will be a couple of months before I'm there. I still haven't sand blasted my frame yet. Once I do that I will epoxy and then be ready to start building it back up.
I look forward to your next update.

Re: 69 F100 Ranger project- 1/18 front discs, rear bushings
-assembled both leaf packs and installed about 10 times (had to assemble and pull the leaf packs so many times because of stupid things like putting the center pin upside-down, 2nd to top leaf cought on shackle, put something the wrong way, blah blah blah )
-stripped/painted ubolt plates
-discovered 3" wide u-bolts dont fit 9in. rearends. i get the right ubolts tomorrow
-cleaned and prepped for cab to be flopped down and bed to be put back on
-rerouted fuel line and cut hole in frame bigger for the 3/8 rubber line
ready for cab to come back down. what do you think, do these pictures look any better than the 3rd picture?
when i got the truck
ready for bed to be placed back on 1/2 way (so i can still strip/paint rear of cab and front of bed)
Next weekend the rear wheels will be on and so will the cab and bed I need to order some front end bushings right now so i can get the front suspension mostly together in two weeks then i can actually... ROLL the truck out of the garage and rinse out the tarp structure and re-mat the ground
Then.. bodywork

Re: 69 F100 Ranger project- 1/25 rear suspension
Thanks
-got the whole rearend together, no bolts tightened until full weight is on
-stripped radius arms, i-beams, coil retainer things, and broke my grinder
-called up NPD and ordered new coil springs, I-beam bushings and radius arm bushings
-POR-15'd front end stuff
-POR-15'd inside edges of cab roof where rust forms on all bumps, also on door hinge mounts
-tilt cab back onto mounts
-placed bed back onto frame, leaving space for me to strip/paint rear of cab and front of bed
-gathered body parts... getting ready for stripping and epoxy primer
I LOVE the tool bench that the bed provides, and allll the extra space i have is amazing
I decided to paint the bed instead of bed-liner and use a removable rubber mat to protect the nice paint
Well i havent seen that tailgate in a while.
not the bed is 100% stripped of parts . removed the tailgate.
Now i have to do all my metal-work. I have to install this dual tank cover pictured below. I also have to cut the hole for the filler neck, and drill out every trim hole (bump trim AND ranger trim , cut out the flattened bump section on the bed and weld in a new piece, pull some dents, Im sure there is more.
Sometimes i just like to sit under the truck and drool over the beauty
Next weekend should be just as interesting, I will have the disk-brake front end installed and can push the truck out of the garage!

Re: 69 F100 Ranger project- 2/1 bed/cab on
Thanks!
-Had Christmas today, my NPD truck parts (coil springs, axle pivot bushings, radius bushings)
-Assembled front suspension
-aired up the old tires, put them back on
-ROLLING CHASSIS
-Rolled it out of the nasty garage
-picked up some deluxe carpeting
-remat, cleanup, rearrange, push truck back into garage
-Bought a passenger side door for $20
-Im buying a welder on monday from my boss (Miller Cricket) for body work
Front disk brake suspension on
Yes, i turned that I-beam bolt around. i just shoved it in without thinking since i was pushing on it so hard with my knee to line up.
I am doing nothing with the brakes/spindle/kingpin at this point, i just want this thing to roll for now. later it will have some nice blingbling stuff that will allow me to actually stop.
pushhhh
this stuff was disgusting, an inch of 40yo grease layered the mats, i got tired of lying in it.
Both my bumps in one picture? hasn't been like that for a while. Note my 71's fierce security dragon on the hood
I forgot a picture of the new mats layed out and the cleaned garage. but it's nice
door. i plan on cutting out the bump and using it to patch the bed's smashed bump, and cutting the bottom of the door to use to patch my other doors speaker hole.
It is so nice to lay on my new mats under the truck and admire the beauty of black paint and shiny bolts
Now it is officially body work time. once i get the welder on monday and my paper-route paycheck, i can get a bottle for it and start doing some patch work, hole filling, and i also plan to weld in all the bedseams

Re: 69 F100 Ranger project- 2/8 Rolling Chassis!
Wow...grrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaatttt!!!!!!!!!!! That's going to be really something. Interesting that you will drill holes for the trim. Most end up filling them! If you have a full set of nice trim it will really look sharp.

Re: 69 F100 Ranger project- 2/8 Rolling Chassis!
Thanks, the original owner (my welding boss ) welded up all the trim holes and took the trim off. Sense i am going to be doing a two-tone paintjob (orange over white), I get to find every welded up hole and redrill it. Ive got about 80% of the trim i need for the full bump trim, and the lower Ranger trim. Its going to be puurrtyy
