Door Latch Spring?

Post by colnago »

I have a '67 F250. A few months ago, the driver door interior release stopped going back to its released position. It feels like a spring broke. I can push it back in place, but it doesn't go on its own. I can't find any info that shows a spring as part of the mechanism. Does anyone know if there is a spring, or do I just need to lube it up good? If there is a spring, does anyone have a part number or diagram?

Thanks,

Joseph

I don't believe there is a separate return spring in the door assembly. The latching mechanism has the only spring return. The linkage rods are what connect the levers to the latch and they return the levers to their original position when the door opens and closes. You might try to bend a rod a little to take up some slack. Here's a complete disassembly instruction http://www.fordification.com/tech/doors01.htm I don't think with a door schematic on here.
