Inner Fender Alignment

Post by CV1186 »

Hope fully someone has an answer. I am in the process of putting all of the front sheet metal back on and although there were no shims under the previous mounts to the core support all of the front sheet metal has been replaced with original metal and the inner fenders seem to slope to towards the core support. The doors were also replaced and are hung and aligned so I have good reference towards the rear of the truck. But starting from scratch in the front I have no previous reference marks because the sheet metal was changed. Hanging the front fender to get an idea of where I was at the gap between the fender and the inner fender was almost 1/2 and inch off. I used the Dennis Carpenter core support mounting hardware and they are the same thickness as the originals. if anyone has advice it will be appreciated or maybe something I have overlooked? Thank you. :?

Did u replace all cab rubber too. The way ive approached this is leave any bols mounts loose. Then i would adjust as needed for fender door gaps as well as hood level gap.

Thanks Fordman. As I was thinking about the problem I realized I did change the front cab mount rubber and the mounts themselves were replaced. However I never replaced the rears rubber cab mounts, so I am going to try that and see where it puts things at.
