Newly aquired all original 68 F100 LWB

Post by 1rebmem »

Just picked this up off Ebay in May ($8500). I bought it from the son of the original purchaser, he is 70 and no one in the family wanted it. It was bought in St Louis MO in July 1968. Currently 86,500 miles. Came with original order slip, down payment reciept ($25), sales invoice ($2605), original MO license plate, copy of original title, complete set of shop manuals and other misc papers.
Options are 360 V8, Auto, P brakes, tinted glass, deluxe 2 tone paint, transistor push button radio, rear step bumper, HD rear springs and undercoating. It has 100% original paint and interior, never touched up even. Other than replacement of water pmp, master cylinder, fuel pmp and hoses etc it is original and unmolested. It even had original plug wires on it (stiff).
Other than slight surface rust on the very bottom of body panels and in the typical bumpside locations it is nearly perfect rust wise. I will be cleaning, waxing and detailing for weeks to come. Will replace non Ford parts with NOS or reproduction.

Image
It is a very nice truck that rides smooth and quiet. A nice historical artifact.
Image
I'm in love with this interior.
Image
Engine degreased. Cleaned and waxed the left side firewall.
Image
My GF degreased, cleaned and now waxing rust free hood.
Image
Still needs a little detailing............
Image
Pretty good after using a soapy toothbrush and then wax.

That truck is mint ! I would love to see some pics of the inside & the engine bay. EDIT: I see you posted some

Its cool that you got all of the original paperwork with the truck. With most of these trucks, the original paperwork has been lost or destroyed over the years

Thanks for the responses.
We paid $8500 which some may think is high but for a nearly rust free and close to 100% original truck I am very pleased!
It only had 2 things wrong with it. Crack in the gas tank float (soldered up and now fixed) and temp sender bad. Oh.... needed a new muffler.
It's not like new but I don't expect to find any better.

I wasn't looking to spend quite this much, $5000 maybe, but when I saw it I couldn't sleep. Showed the GF and she got all excited and insisted I call and make an offer. I told her thats cool but I had some money put aside for an engagement ring so if I bought it it would be our engagement truck. She said she's not all that much into rings anyway and she'd love the truck so......... now she is on the title.
You can see how much I love her (and did you see that shine on the hood underside?)

Great truck and Ithink you got a great deal on it. You can't put a dollar figure on not having to repair rust, repaint and such. You saved a fortune buying this truck. Congratulations on the truck and the engagement.

$8500 is not bad for that truck at all. You could easily put it a show in the "survivor/non restored" group & walk away with 1st place.

Its hard to believe a truck that old, in original condition, can still look as good as it does

I noticed you have the same color interior as I do. Sweet! Your rubber mat still has the red to it. Mine has faded out to black over the years.

Fordman
The interior firewall cover is a black material about 1/16 inch thick. Upon close inspection it looks like a formed fiberous
material with the soft black top coating added. Not sure exactly what you are looking for. Hope this helps.

ok it just looked too shiny to be original. it looked almost like a abs replacement type. so that does show more proof that the truck is original.
