Cleaning a compressor tank

Post by Merlin68F100 »

I am getting a butt load of dirty water sludge out of my compressor tank. Has anybody got a tip for cleaning a compressor tank. Maybe coat the (newly cleaned) tanks interior with POR or some other product?

i guess you could tank it all aprt.(everything off of the tank) and use a gas tank sealer kit that you slosh around inside of it to seal it. like you would a gas tank. you coul dmaybe also put a dryer in the line before the air goes into the tank.

Not enough room between the pump and the tank for a dryer. I was thinking about POR or something but I have used Kreem many years ago and I bet that would work as well as POR or Eastwoods RE but it is a bit more pricey. I have a quart of Eastwoods RE on the shelf so I think that is what I will use after a good cleaning.

Cut the tank in half, blast it, slap some rustoleum in there and weld it back together.
