I have started the preperation for painting my 1971 ford f250. I am using diamond blue and bahama blue (same as heep70). THis is what it should look like: I have allready sanded the one door and primered it to see how it turns out. If it doesnt, i will have a funny looking door.
I have not gotten paint and i dont know where to get it but i will find out. I am also not sure if i am going to mostly spray paint or roll it on. well, hope it goes well.

Glad to hear that you're going to try this! You have to remember that after the first two coats it will look kind of thin and blotchy and you'll wonder if you screwed up. By the 3rd and 4th coats everything kind of starts coming together and smooths out and starts looking better, by the 5th and 6th coats everything should be covered, if not just put on another coat or two. Good luck!
Ill keep that in mind. i think im just going to spray the paint on and not use a roller.well im going to go look for paint. I will update later on how it turns out with pictures. that is, if i find paint.
like i said, i dont want to use a roller, and i cant use a sprayer that uses compressed air because i dont have a compressor and when i borrowed one it blew the breaker ever 2 minutes. is there any electric paint sprayers out there that will work with automotive paint? will this one work?
update: I bough paint today and i bought a Preval sprayer. The paint colors are Deep blue and Chamionship white. Not the colors i had in mind but i am going to mix them into the blue i want or leave the blue. The white is not going to be mixed it will just be white. I have sprayed on the white and i am going to spray the blue in a day or so. once the blue is on i will take pictures.
oops, i accidently clicked submit instead of preview. oh well, thats a bigger pic of what is should look like.
I opened up the blue paint and put a little on my truck just to see what it was like and it looked great, i cant wait until tomorrow when i put it on the door. I am also placing a order today for small mirrors from LMC truck.
update: I have finished the driver side door and have started the passenger side door. The blue is very metallic but look good. These colors are not at all what i had in mind while planning the paint job but they still look great. Tomorrow i will finish the door, and start the hood. Then i will do the fenders. next summer or possibly this summer i will do the bed and cab. i cant wait until its done. here are two pics. sorry they arn't that great of pics but ill get better ones.
i'm almost decided to do the royal blue over a lighter(sky or something that light)blue.
Kinda like my uncles 79 econoline.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

I was origionally going to do bahama blue (dark blueish color) over diamond blue (very light blue color) but they only had dark blue and white, but i still love the way the door turned out.
yeah its pretty cool and simple. The problem is that i ran out and i am waiting with a half painted door until i can go get more. I have one and a half doors painted i will post pics in a couple hours since i have to leave right now.
