Tazzman68's NOBUCK buildup!

Post by tazzman68 »

Alrighty then, a few of you know me pretty well, and some not so much. Hell, I bet there's even one or two of you who have never even heard of me! lol.
Anyways, I finally have enough time and motivation to actually do something with my 67 Ranger, Bessie. I recently picked up a parts rig from a family member in exchange for some artwork, it is a 76 F150 TrailerSpecial, but believe me there was nothing special about this heep. In fact it barely made it home, I had to come some 60 miles on the back roads of Pierce and Thurston counties. Rods knockin, billowing smoke, and leaving a mist of oil that took me two days to get washed off of my wifes lil Ranger. (she followed me home). Ok, anyways, I now have time, and am going to make my truck a pleasure to drive, even for a crippled up creep like me.

Now just everyone knows, I am starting with my 67 F100 Ranger. It has a 352, and a water cooled MX tranny. She runs pretty good, stops ok, and doesn't back up for squat! But that is all about to change! The parts I have stacking up currently are:
Power disk brake front end complete with power-steering gear, pump and column and all the rest of the brake hardware, including lines. I have 2 fuel tanks for under the bed, but not sure which I am going to use. I also have a complete C6 setup for it which is finally going in soon too. (This is thanks to kentdaryl) I have a newer seat in her, (needs recovered, but the springs aren't 40 yrs old like the old seat) I also have most of the needed items to convert her over to electronic ignition.

Anyways here she is as of today. I will post pics as I go.

It's fun to get started. This place helps with the motivation because everyone wants to see progress in motion. Keeps the project moving.

Keep us posted. David Image crash_552 You get my vote so far.

If you leave it like in the pick it'll be a nobuck for sure.

I don't want to give em a heart-attack. That is what would happen if I answered the door in the buff. Heck it almost scares me to death when I step out of the shower and look in the mirror.~Mancar1~

Tazz,

Sounds great! I will definitely be reading your updates. Your 67 doesn't look bad at all.

It's a weird semi metallic light brown/goldish/copperish color. It is getting painted black eventually (primer) with olde skool flames and smoothies.
And hey RebelRider, I'm gonna be selling those turbines as soon as I can afford my smoothies

I was thinking how bad your truck would look with high gloss black; maybe, except the bumper. What are smoothies?

The body seems to be free of rust and one small ding on driver's side.

Nah, she needs some work, previous owner slaped her full o mud and shot a coat of paint on her. Got lots to do, but I need to make her easier to drive right now. And these are the wheels I am going with, but in primer grey powdercoat. 15x8 up front and 15x12 out back.

I know I am definately no Guru, but to be sure before I put foot in mouth, I went and measured again there is roughly 15" between the outside edge of the rear leaf springs and the inner most part of the upper wheel well edge (which is in tact and untrimmed) and that is without moving my springs inboard of the frame (which I have contemplated) and these wheels are made to order with whatever offset your little heart desires. Now I may be wrong, but for a street truck, I should have more than enough room for a 12" wide rim with maybe 13" wide tire at the sidewall. If I am figuring wrong, please let me know before I spend $450 on the rears. (they are not returnable) and I have a pro wheel guy gonna figure out the offset needed. I will go 10's if that is all I can fit, but I want as wide out back as possible without tubbing.

Ok, I am going to try and update when I accomplish anythign on the truck. Tonight, I got the crank pulley off finally and got the pulley/balancer from the 360 put on. Tomorrow I will get the rest of the brakets and pulleys on and take some pics.
