Can you post a side shot of your truck? I'd really like to see the stance. Any progress on the video of the cab while driving? I'd really appreciate the side shot though.

Thanks,

Hey Davin. I was going to try and do the video thing this past weekend but just didn't quite get around to it. Let me take some side shots of this this week and see if I can get my act together to take the video as well. I've never posted a video and I assume I need to post it onto Youtube but it can't be all that hard. I have 3 kids (2 are teens and seem to know everthing about electronics) and I am sure they can help there old man out.

Davin, here are a few pics of the truck with the new shocks and coil insert lifts. Not much difference but the truck does sit a tad higher. I think the front maybe about 1/2" higher or so. I should have measured before and after but didn't really think of it. I am uploading a video demonstrating the quietness of the cab, now that I've done all of the sound deadening, etc. It should be loaded tomorrow. :D

Thanks for the pics Terry. Thats a good stance. Leveled it out pretty good. I ordered my rear shocks yesterday. From what you had said about them, convinced me to just get them.

At Ta Taco's suggestion, I took a spin in the bump and video'd the level of noise in the cab now that I am done with the sound deadening/dampening process. I still need to replace the anti rattle stuff and the vent seals and will get to that eventually. I should have taken a video of the noise level before embarking on this project but didn't think of it. Here is the link to the youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hebhNDaihlU

Thanks! :woohoo:

Terry,

You and your Bump are an inspiration to me. I had to laugh when I think about how I have to yell if I attempt to have a conversation while driving mine.

Excellect job and Thank You for sharing on YouTube!

Your truck sounds nice and quite on the inside, I was really suprised when you closed the door and almost all the outside noise stayed outside and the door didnt sound like a drum. Hoping to start putting sound deadning in my truck this week. Thank you for making the video, wouldnt have thought it would be so quite in the truck.

Thank you Terry! AWESOME JOB! I looked like this guy the whole time I watched your video ----> :D . Your work is extremely inspirational. Once again, your attention to detail and your patience is very motivating. That was everything I was hoping it would be. I've got some other issues to address before I can move onto this, but I'll get there. I got my shocks today :woohoo: . I'm going to install these this weekend.

Thanks for the great project ideas, pics and the video. I really appreciate it.

I've been working on cleaning up under the truck/suspension a little so I've been scrubbing it. It's actually pretty clean and very dry. This truck has no leaks and just some surface rust. After cleaning, scrubbing, sanding it, I decided to do a little painting and undercoating, just to spruce it up a little. Nothing big. I also replaced the brake pedal pad with one that I got from the junk yard. Mine was a little worn on one side. Here is the front drivers side wheel well and coil spring. The red coil was my son's idea. :D I was feeling a little lazy today so I'll do the passenger side next weekend. :zz:

Terry1167 , when you ordered your carpet did you tell them with or without in cab tank ? Just curious because i will be ordering mine this week and i really like the amount of carpet they gave you just by asking them not to trim it ! Looks outstanding !

I did order it for the "in cab" tank so I assume that made a difference. At first I was going to order it without telling the in cab tank as I thought it might provide me with a little more carpet but at the last minute I decided not to do that because it might make a difference. But I did make a special request that they not trim it so that it would give me the most carpet possible and that seemed to work well for me as it gave a lot of extra carpet.

Good luck and let us know how your project goes! :D

It's been a busy summer so I haven't had a ton of time to spend on the 72, but today my son and I are going down to the local pull and pay to see what we can find. I am also going to put the big Mitchell camper on it to see how she handles. I need to start working on both.

I also sold my 90 F250 w/Lance camper yesterday    . I have 3 teenagers and 2 of them needs cars. I decided that one of my toys needs to go to pay for 2 cars so the 90 and Lance drew the short straw. Absolutely breaks my heart but what do you do? I certainly am not selling the Town Car. Besides, I suppose I can now focus a little more attention to the 72 F250 and camper.

I took a couple of video's of the 90 F250 and camper in the video gallery.

Thanks for looking! :D

Well, I attempted to put my 11' cabover camper onto the 72 F250. Spent about 6 hours with the loading system that is original to the '79 camper but had some difficulty. I had to take it back off for now and will need to do some "tinkering" before securing the camper onto the truck and making sure it's safe. Here are some pics of the camper sitting on the truck at the storage yard. Looks sweet and the truck holds it well. I put new HD coil over shocks all around as well as new 10 ply tires. I am considering removing the original camper special overload springs and replacing with some HD hellwig overloads. The camper empty weighs around 2700 pounds and when loaded, probably closer to 2900. It's a big rig, no doubt about it.

That is a Monster apartment you have on that truck.

2900lbs on a ¾ ton? Wow!
I’ve never driven a setup like that. And there has been a few that took me a minute or two to get my land legs back.

Nothing like good ole American iron!
Good looking truck!

Ok....finally put the big 11' Mitchell camper onto the 72 CS. Took me about 16 hours over the course of 3 days to get the camper and truck rigged and set up right so that it could be safely loaded. I must have backed that truck up a hundred times and loaded/unloaded the camper onto it about 5 times. I seriously thought I was going to be crushed by it a few times as I had a lot of work to do underneath it, etc. Truck carries it pretty well, a little rear sag and light steering but what do you expect with a 2900# camper. I have a lot of work to do on the rig but as time and budget allows.

Here is a link to the video of me driving it home: http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... 62&t=60736

A few pics of the camper at the storage yard getting loaded onto the truck.

Great thread! From the research I have done, it may be worth your while to insulate the inside of the hood with any left over stuff you have. Makes sense, engine noise coming up through the hood and in through the windshield. Just something to think about. I have bookmarked this thread as one of the many projects.
