Re: 69 F250 body on 87 bronco frame
So as of right now I have the bronco's harness ran through the dash and it's pretty clean..
Now I'm trying to get the 87's harness to work with the 69's ignition and turn signals.. I'll be attacking that today as well as finish hooking up the stuff under the engine.. That way I can put the battery in and test the electrical stuff.

Why use the bronco wiring? The EFI harness for the motor is connected to everything else with maybe 5 wires. Why not junk all the other redundant crap off the 87 harness, run the bump harness for everything but the engine and interface the 87 engine harness with the bump harness where needed?

Re: 69 F250 body on 87 bronco frame
It's much more simpler to just put the bronco harness in the dash and plug everything in.. Less splicing and reading wiring diagrams..
I'm already having a hard enough time trying to figure out how to wire the ignition switch and turn signals into the bronco harness.. trying to splice everything else would be to much of a hassle for me.

Re: 69 F250 body on 87 bronco frame
Sorry all.. no progress made today.. I had a buddy get a flat while on his way home from work.. About 25 miles away on his sportbike.. So I took Goliath out to get him.. Sucks cause I'm busy through the end of the weekend.. So looks like I'll be taking 3 days off from the truck.. :banghead freakin sucks..
Oh well.. Here are the 2 pics from yesterday I couldn't upload..
Yes that is the bronco's headlight switch sticking through the dash. :thumbup
now I'm trying to figure out how to remove the ignition switch from the dash.. I got the cylinder out but I need the whole thing out so I can wire it up right..

Re: 69 F250 body on 87 bronco frame
Well I got the ignition out.. However during the unplugging process I messed up the wiring pretty good.. the connector didn't come off the wires came out of the connector.. So I need to find another connector or switch to the 87's column.. *sigh*
Edit:
Or.. What do you guys think about the idea of having a master power switch and then a push button ignition? Also some kind of aux kill switch.. Basically remove the "key" all together.... It's not like I'm driving this all over the place and having to worry about it.. hmmm

Thanks for the compliments.. I'm trying to scoot along and get it done... I wish it could be done all super quick, but a lot of the fun has been trying to figure stuff out and what not.. Anyways..
Update: No pics.. Nothing pic worthy.. Didn't get to work on it to much.. I ran to harbor freight to get some drill bits and a punch to drill holes.. (Turned out I didn't really need em, but now I have a complete set again...
I installed the solenoid on the pass inner fender and wired up the harness to it..
I found and installed my starter
I spent a little bit of time playing around mocking up the 87's mount to hold the air box.. I have some ideas on how to handle that..
I spent the last of the daylight playing with the steering column.. I had just decided to swap over to the 87's column so I didn't have to wire anything special.. However while checking out how I was going to make a bracket to bolt the 87's column to the 69's dash setup I realized that the ignition actuator that goes on the steering column is completely in the way to bolt it up. The 69 has a column tunnel that doesn't allow for the actuator.. I'm wondering if I cut it up that I'll have to take so much out that I'll ruin the stability of the structure...
I did take time today and looked at a bunch of wiring diagrams so I think I can just wire up everything for the 69 setup.. However I'm concerned about power.. The 87's harness has 2 nice size power wires coming in and the 69's ignition only has a 1 smaller wire.. I'd be afraid of burning stuff out with the small 69 ignition setup..
So Just to be safe I may have to do a main power switch and a push button ignition. I guess since it's a wheeler I don't really have to worry about an ACC setting.. Just power on and off.. Only thing I'll have in it will be a CB radio and a Ham Radio. Those will be ran directly to the battery.. I "might" put a stereo in it but not sure...
decisions decisions...

Re: 69 F250 body on 87 bronco frame
I was doing some thinking about the 69's ignition setup.. I don't have to run all the same stuff.. Who cares if I don't have a functional ACC position.. Hmm.. Guess I'll be taking these diagrams to work and researching them all day. =)

This might help I will be putting a EFI 460 out of a 95' F350 in my 72' so thinking the wiring might be close but havent checked it out yet. Im using the whole 95' harness and splicing in what I can .....
