That's what was odd when I put my seals in......

Sharkdance, youre out there, and Im putting my first set of new door seals on my 67. I immediately searched for your thread as I remember it when you posted it.
I bought a set of Precision door seals since some members recommended them.
The other project I'll be doing is a new interior firewall, and I remeber your tutorial, but I know all the pictures are gone. Oh well.

Good deal, mine are sitting in the box and I'm about half afraid to install them. I hate weatherstrip glue, could never get it to stick so I too am looking for any tips and tricks.

Finally got mine installed. I bought the Precision brand ones, and they were top quality. Used 3M "gorilla snot" for the adhesive, everything went in perfect. I cant believe how much quieter the truck is, road noise greatly reduced.
RE: tips and tricks;
I cleaned off ALL the old adhesive from around the outter door lip. Time spent on prep work is well spent.
I used laquer thinner, and small patches of scuff pads, rags and something to chip off big chunks of old adhesive -- got it all clean.
Small spring clamps that can be had cheap at home depot, I dry-fitted the seal to see where I wanted the butt joint to lay across the bottom. and marked the seal at the top with a piece of tape, to know where to start when glueing.
I used the small glue brushes to spread the glue (have a little can of laquer thinner handy that you can clean off the brush after each stretch of glueing), and glue up a couple feet at a time.
Like in painting, work clean or the glue can go everywhere with the stringy stuff.
Then I just spread on the glue kinda thick, (use the glue brush to keep it from dripping all over the place), let it tack up for a bit and put on the seal, try not to get the glue all over the seal. I just applied glue to the OUTTER side of the lip. First stretch I glued across the top and the two radiused corners. Used the clamps to keep it where I wanted it. It will dry pretty fast. Then down each side, alternating, The bottom, cutting to fit the butt joint at the bottom.
Later I might add some adhesive to the inner side of the door lip, but Im not sure it is even necessary. I used almost the whole tube of 3M Super Weather Strip Adhesive. Applied the glue rather liberally. Applied the seal on soon enough to spread some of the glue onto the rubber so you will get that contact adhesive going.
Take your time as has been said.
