Got some updated pictures. The engine is running, just have to button up some small stuff, like the coil mount, and new throttle spring. The 670 truck avenger carb is awesome!! Also just got my clutch pedal assembly from a fellow forum member. The cab was originally an automatic, but im running a manual trans.

I started on my tube seat mounts, and am now on the look for a dana 60 kingpin front. Ill have updates soon.

re: new '68 4x4! Project, TIG welder, DANA 60 front

Post by boots »

Got a 78/79 f250 snowfighter front dana 60 on ebay for 750$. Started cleaning it up today ,and torched of all the brackets, except for the perches. Im going to run a high steer arm that I will machine with a buddy that I work with.

Also, I purchased a Miller Dialarc Tig welder from my boss. Comes with a miller coolant system, torch, pedal, regulator, rod, tungsten grinder and more, for just $1300! It will weld Aluminum at 350 amps All I need to do is buy a bottle of argon.

Im heading off to alaska tomorrow for 5 days so When I get back there will be loads of work to do. now for the good stuff. Pictures.

:yt: :D Just wondering though, are you gonna upgrade the rear to a Dana 70 :? Just my :2cents: but I think it would bring your truck to the next level.

You know, my rear is an axle out of a newer f350, and was given to me bone stock and for free, The wierd part is that is has a 1-ton shaft (not the 3/4" ton shaft that I thought came with all dana 60's), that matches my new front 60. It may be a dana 70.

Maybe it is, wouldn't that be cool :D But if it's out of a newer F-350 it might be a sterling 10.25, which is pretty much par with the Dana 70. :2cents:
