If you dont want a factory restoration type look, I would find the newer style crank up tire carriers. My Chebbie has a small "winch" that is worked with the lug wrench to lower and raise the tire up under the truck. Just a thought.
Robert, sorry about that fine mess you got yourself into ....I'm not sure if mine is totally factory, but the driver's side is just a 1/2" x 8" coarse threaded hex bolt with a nut on either side of the frame holding it tight....The passenger side(the one you undo to get the spare off) is a 1/2" x 10 1/2" bolt bent into an oval loop shape at the bottom...This is so you don't have to completely undo it to remove the spare...Turn it so that the loop end lines up with the slot on the spare tire holder and it frees the tire...Confused??...I got a new camera for pops day and when I figger out how to use it,I'll post a pic if you need it...
This is the point...I'm....talking about everybody! I'm talking about form! I'm talking about content! I'm talking about interrelationships! I'm talking about God, the devil, hell, heaven!!!! Do you understand???? Finally!!!!
Good deal...You might want to think about getting them made out of stainless or something,Robert, because they rust awful easily...

I knew what it was supposed to look like (Roughly anyway)
I'll set about making some...
Hey Robert, did you ever get this fabricated? Did you make multiple sets?
Unfortunately no... i still go back and forth on it... with my hitch and also now with the EFI and i really need a Mustang tank... it has never crept up to the top of the list again.
