Greetings,
I know, I know, it's a 1965, not a '67-'72, but I figure some of you folks are familiar with the '65 and can help me out.
I've got a funky block on the right side of the engine compartment, located between the battery and the starter relay, that has disintegrated. It has three anonymous wires coming out of the harness bolted to it, and I'm guessing it's a fancy way of grounding the wires to the body. I'd just like to confirm or deny what it is with the collective, and find out if/where I can get a replacement. I've hunted down parts lists and diagrams and have had no luck identifying the part; any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks,
Allan

Re: 1965 F100 engine compartment wiring question
Everyone is welcome , even our webmaster has a "Slick" the last I knew.
To me It doesn't look factory , unless you have a Camper Special maybe.
If those are all grounds they can be screwed right to the panel. Then make sure the panel has a good ground to the battery.
Otherwise if you need an insulated junction try a camper place or marina.
Post back with pictures of the whole truck, we like pictures.

If it connects to the positive terminal of the battery it is hot and should NOT be connected to any type of ground or you'll have a nice 12 volt 500 amp arc welder. It looks factory to me and appears to be an insulated junction block. There are many sources of this type of replacement block. Napa, Hi-Line, Balkamp etc. You just need to take it off and show it to a knowledgeable counterman... if there are any these days.

"located between the battery and the starter relay" - Do you mean physically, electrically (or both)?amkaplan wrote:Greetings,

If this is electrically between the battery and Starting Motor Relay, then what you've probably got is a tie-point, for wires that need a +12VDC "hot".
By 1970, these were installed onto the "hot" stud on the Starting Motor Relay.
