67 floor pans.
I'm replacing the drivers side floor pan. I'm attempting to do it without removing the cab mount. So far, so good. Is this unusual? My cab mount is in perfect shape since it was undercoated heavily 48 years ago. The hardest part is undoing the spotwelds from the top side. I can't tell where they are due to rust or paint. I basically have to just chisel it apart. I'm making my upper horizontal cut at about the dimmer switch area since everything above this is okay.

No the easier you can make it the better.Busboy wrote:I'm attempting to do it without removing the cab mount. So far, so good. Is this unusual?
If you have a grinder, a light pass over the spotwelds can highlight them.Busboy wrote:The hardest part is undoing the spotwelds from the top side. I can't tell where they are due to rust or paint. I basically have to just chisel it apart.
I don't know what you have for tools , but I'd cut around the welded area ,then you can get in between the metals and seperate them easier.
get a stone grinder and thin out the spot welds , then seperate them . hopefully you have a air chisel.

Re: 67 floor pans.
I've got all that and more. A snap on air saw, air powered nibbler, air chisel, straight and 90 degree die grinders etc. I just like to know where and what I'm destroying!
Thanks for the response.![FORDification Rocks! :fr:](./images/smilies/icon_FORDification.gif)

Re: 67 floor pans.
I just finished mine. I just cut around the mount a little at a time exposing the mount so I wouldn't cut into it. When I finally had the mounts exposed I ground and chiseled the remaining sheetmetal away. I don't think It's too unusual for the floor to be gone but not the mount. I had a large hole in the firewall and my windshield was leaking which rotted the floor.
