Cab Swap Question!

Post by 67merc100 »

Hey all

So im probably in need of doing a cab swap due to my floors and other areas rusted through on my 67 mercury m100 4x4 cab. I have a 68 ford f100 2wd full donor truck. the cab is excellent. I was wondering if it'll work to switch cabs even though its the 2wd cab going on the 4x4 truck. what issues may i run into?

No problems at all. Because they are both half ton trucks. Of your 4wd was a 250 you would have to drill new rear cab mount holes. I actually did this swap myself.

Great good to know! Thanks! Just didnt wanna go through the whole process to find out there would be a major issue. I have a 4 on the floor in the 67 and its an auto in the 68. Was concerned the hump in the center of the cab wasnt going to be big enough.

The rear cab mounts on a 4WD are outside the frame, but are inside the frame on a 2WD. The cab floor is dimpled where you'd have to drill the rear two holes...no big deal. And of course you'd have to plug up the other set of holes. Other than that, it's a bolt-on.

The trans hump bolts in , you might have to cut the hole. no big deal.
