Safelite Autoglass?

Post by duaneo »

Folks,

Has anyone ever used Safelite Autoglass to repair your windshield? Did they supply the gasket? Did they have the skills to do it properly?

Thanks,
Duane

When i self-installed the front and back glass in my 69 it was not as hard as i thought it would. I think the reason it was easier than i thought it would be was because i did not have the chrome trim to be installed on gasket. I seen some guys post pics of glass installed by known companies that were made into horror stories. Seems to me that if the seal as the chrome trim to be installed it makes it more difficult to work with no matter who does the work.

I had them put a windsheild in on my 97 F-150. the glass was crappy, it had a wave in it, right across my view. I'll only go with Carlite glass from now on.

D,
I went to Auto Glass here in Santa Clara, CA. They took the appointment online for a windshield replacement. When The truck arrived they couldn't find the gasket in there system. I offered to order one for them, but they said that using outside parts would void the installation warrantee.
So I went up the street to a smaller place. They had the windshield and gasket available, I was out the door in about 2hrs for under 300$.
