thought i would post some pics of my rookie metal work on hood
. The 1st pic is the before and i sure was scratching my head on this one
. After sleeping on it for about 2 months
i decided to take a shot at it. I figured i could not make it worse than what it is. The 2nd pic, I decided to cut the rusted area out in about 8 inch increments and replace it as i go hoping that i would not lose contour of hood. after all the metal was replaced ,i grinded and sanded on the welds seem like forever. I had some bondo glass on hand so i used it to help get any imperfections in my metal work out. The deepest i went with the bondo glass was about 1/8 inch in one small area. After block sanding the bondo to get shape back in hood i went over that with polyester putty to help with the smallest imperfections. The 3rd pic is my long awaited results
I ended up with a good shape on the curve of the hood .
