two tone purple

Post by jrb56 »

So I am new here - and I have looked at all of the color chips and I am not finding what I am looking for.

My folks bought a new Ford truck somewhere around 1971-3.

This truck was two tone purple. I am not finding two tone purple for any years as an option.

Is there a listing for ALL two tone possibilities?

Thanks
Joe

no, the truck was wrecked in ~74. We are now trying to "recreate" it. We found some Ford purples here -

But do not know how to determine which would be correct.

Might try "process of elimination" theory. It's 1971 and you want to buy a truck but they don't have the color you want, you want two tone purple. Odds are, you didn't make that up on your own, you saw it on something else. From that paint reference 1969 Thunderbird's and Lincoln's were the only vehicles that had paint codes for two different shades of purple on the same vehicle in the same year with an actual paint code that could have been found on a color code on the door tag. I'd say the probability leans toward medium orchid/dark orchid or lilac frost/midnight orchid. There also appear to be multiple shades of purple maroon available on "fleet" vehicles. This person may have seen those colors on a commercial vehicle also, like a bus or delivery van. Just throwing stuff out there.
