i wanna keep it a long bed for the longer wheel base to handle the rough stuff better, but its tempting to cut it down just to use less tubing haha. what do you think?
and thank you for the pipe estimate of length haha, finally going to get pipe tomorrow, my wallets going to be alot lighter....

Pipe is for sewage. Tube is for race trucks.Frosty4227 wrote:i wanna keep it a long bed for the longer wheel base to handle the rough stuff better, but its tempting to cut it down just to use less tubing haha. what do you think?

You say pipe on an offroad forum and you better have a good flame suit on!
The longer wheelbase in theory will help ever so slightly but with less than 500 hp (much less) and without $10,000 into shocks (bypasses each corner to go with the coilovers) the longer wheelbase is only extra weight and not nearly as easy to throw around in the turns. I like SWB.

Re: 1967 f250 race truck
haha ill use the word tubing instead. i do pipe welding thats why i said pipe, thank you for the heads up. and the most expensive part of this truck will be the tubing, but better safe then sorry. thank you for the info on short vs long bed. ill probably be chopping/sectioning the frame it sounds like haha. im holding off on buying pipe till i buy my tig. i love tig welding and i am going to use it to help fund the race truck as well. also might have my hands on a nice manual tube bender, i just have to buy the 2" die which is like 500
haha. but thats whats going on right now. she is just sitting, once the ground dries i can keep working underneath it again. sun stay out!!

Re: 1967 f250 race truck
i bought my tig, i practice every other day on it. and i just bought my tubing bender yesterday, came with three dies, 1", 1 1/2", 1 3/4", then i just bought the 2" 180 degree die and the hydro conversion to use the harbor freight 8 ton jack. so now all i have to do is to buy my mig and 2" tube and plate and its time to start fabricating. im so excited!!!
ill start posting progress pics again soon.

Looks good. Just remember to do the work on a good flat floor and level everything before welding or you'll end up fighting a bad handling truck.
