What a GREAT site...thanks to the webmaster, posters, etc.
I am restoring a 1966 F-100 shortbed. While it won't exactly be a "daily driver" I would prefer to call it a "parade restoration"...it'll look good going down the road but a purist will see I will not have gone over-the-top to restore it to it's original condition. Close, though! (That effort will go in to the 1950 Custom Coupe project later on....)
I bought this truck from my nephew (his Dad is in the photos with me) who got it because he wanted an old truck like Grandpa (my Dad). "Life" got in the way and he decided to sell it...so I took over the project. Unfortunately the truck lives in Connecticut; I live in Wisconsin and work in Minnesota...so I rely on my brother Randy to do a lot of the leg work and I travel to CT periodically for a work-on-the-truck trip. We're having a blast with it.
Here's a link that will get you to where I started this project up through the first major steps: http://gallery.me.com/rmele#100047
And this link is a time-lapse thing that shows the cab removal process (more or less): http://gallery.me.com/rmele#100042
Next challenge will be repairing the holes in the frame where the core support attaches. I found a great post, with pictures, elsewhere on the forum; though I could probably guesstimate I want to locate where the center of the hole needs to be (as measured from the front and side of the frame rail).
Stay tuned...
