After new exhaust and bench seat reupholstery - decided to take the plunge and get the truck some fresh paint. Found guy who works for himself that shoud do good work at a resonable price. May take a while since smaller, higher paying jobs that come along will take priority. But that is okay with me. Did some research on paints and looks like I am going with the original Boxwood Green - Paint supplier only has it in PPG Omni AU (not in DBU or DBC). But I will be using the top end PPG clear - the 2002. Painter has experience with Pearls and we have the option of putting some in thefirst coat of clear. Should I skip the pearl or go with gold pearl over the Boxwood or another pear color? I know it is whatever I like best but I woud welcome other's opinions! Also need some odds and ends to complete the cosmetics. The tailgate latch handle is rusty- haven't found a soltion there. The contractor box has a similar issue with the dull handle. The brackets on the West Coast Jnr mirrors have rust - can't find parts for these mirrors. The mirrors themselves are in great shape. Anyway, here are some photos of the truck right before I drove it tothe paint/body guy (notice I took out the new bench seat!):
HI-I'll be interested to follow your progress with the paint job. I too am hoping to get mine painted sometime this year as the budget allows. I am currently looking for a low cost painter that has a similar set-up like the one you found. I noticed in your pics that you didn't remove the chrome drip rail nor the windshield trim and windshield. Are you planning to or are you going to paint around it? I hope to remove all trim, including windshield and rear window but i don't know how difficult that will be and have done a little research on it. Do you mind sharing how much the paint job is going to run you so I can have some ballpark idea of what to expect? Thanks.

Took most of the stuff off I could to save money and sort of ran out of time since I was off work on Monday and needed to get it over to the body guy then. He said he would take off the rest. Body guy has a "glass guy" that stops buy and takes out and reinstalls the glass. I need to order new rubber and drop it off the shop. Didn't get around to seeing how the drip rail comes out! Good question though... No idea how it gets removed. But I hope the body guy removes it - will ask him when I talk to him. Did mess around with the antenna on the drivers side. How many trucks came with two antennas? The second is for a CB and it looks stock. Has a nice rubber grommet under the dash where it passes through... Was going have hole filled in but now leaving it in. PM me regarding costs and I will give you details. Just a price without grade of materials and work performed is not very meaningful.
You can take the drip rail chrome off with a bottle opener. Use some electrical tape wrapped around the end to keep it from scratching. As for the tool box handle they used to have handles you could buy from Northern tool and equipment that would bolt right on.
I tried a milk crate first but I was sitting too high! Steering wheel was touching my legs! Good thing I buckled up with seat belt- went flying around a couple of turns!
Polished the Ranger emblem:
Cleaned up mirrors:
Can I buy replacement brackets used on the Western Jr mirrors? Or should I sand/paint?
Will work on grill... Should I remove the old red stripe??
Should I repaint using flat black or gloss black or polish these???

Nice progress! I'd try to sand and paint the brackets and I'd definitely leave the red stripe. The headlight bezels look good in the pic so you might be able to polish them but if not, I'd do a satin paint.
