On the road again

Post by Brokenarrow »

I finally got the '68 back together, (hopefully right this time  ) So now I've rebuilt the carb and the engine, and been through the transmission, now I need to change the third member. This thing has some serious torque and she's way too longlegged with the 2.75 gears. I also swapped the '68 grill for one from a "69 ranger. This truck now has a fresh motor & tranny, rebuilt carb, all new front-end bushings & rag-joint, new tires, shocks, brakes, battery, & starter. It runs and drives really good, shifts a little hard though. Probably didn't really need that B&M shift kit :hmm:

Thanks, The engine is a .060 over 390 (401ci), reverse 105 (D4TE) block, KB flat-tops ( approx. 10.0/1 scr),Crank turned 10/10, oil-holes chamfered, mellings HV oil-pump and restrictors in the heads, Oil pressure is 25-30psi hot at idle & 55-60psi cruising. Cam is .484/510 lift, 270/280 duration, pushing Crane hi-intensity antipump-up lifters
Heads are reworked D2s with larger (2.08 & 1.65) valves and hard seats. Streetmaster intake, Q-jet carb  , flowtech headers w/ 2 1/2" thrush glasspacks.

8), Sounds like a pretty radical build!

Yea, the cam is pretty mild. She pulls pretty hard though from idle to about 4,500rpm. I'm guessing the HP @ around 330 or so :hmm: .
