hell yeah to doing it yourself nothing more satisfying than when someone asks you about your ride and you can tell them you built with blood sweat and tears...this is my second restore but my first on my own

a little update..i got one side put back together using the other side as a reference..it wasn't to bad my fingers are sore from pushing the holder springs down...should have a bought the tool for that part...it looks good though i am painting the drums just cause i like to...other than that the drums aren't worn out enough to replace yet should have the other side done tommorrow...i will throw up some pics of the painted drum for ya

its a breeze really... i get my welder in two weeks i can't wait to replace the floors and cab corners..brakes are actually kinda boring work..i think

i tconsider brakes..mild maintenance, never done drums before but been changing my own discs for years..well see how it goes

brakes done, cleaned the garage floor, now finishing the paint, its like 105 here with 80 some percent humidity so i haven't been able to do much, plus got a huge inspection (military) so that means twelve hour shifts, but i will have time to post some pics later this week...pics soon i promise your gonna laugh at the shag rug in the garage but its comfy...

i have to por 15 the under part of the frame and i didn't feel like laying on hot concrete so i used the dogs rug ....he is pretty mad

You've got the shoes on backwards. Also, those axles appear to be 31 spline...

hahah i wondered if they were wrong haha i will change them then thanks for the info and what did you mean by the axle's does this mean my brakes are wrong other than being backwards

i totally did it backwards i will flip them i found a pic and i see what you mean the one with the longer pad surface goes in the rear haha oops thanks but i still don't understand the spline thing was it an fyi or what?

the splines refer the teeth on the axles...some are 28 and yours appear to be 31..higher strenth

brakes redone ...checked then checked again...got them put together right this time, now some pics not alot to show...shocks on diff painted and all the frame coated...ummm its still hot as all get out and still on twelves but now i work nights ugh so going to get u-joints is out of the question so tired all the time
