My 1971 F100

Hey here´s a big update finally! See what I did the last few weeks:

Roof marker lights installed



Roof painted:



Started cutting out the rusted through bed floor...someone repaired it with construction foam...



New sheet-metal:



Bed painted (the POR15 whitecoat turned out too white, compared to the wimbledon white on the roof...but will stay so the next time..



Now to the cab, floor painted with POR15:



Nice and shiny



Tank reinstalled:

Got it out of the shop and washed it:



Heading down the german Autobahn towards the Alps for the registration:



Had to measure the speedometer on the dynamometer. That was funny, they put two ramps in front of the truck to prevent it from driving forwards, off the roll...after he shifted in second gear they got frightened because the truck pulls so hard and put this beast behind the truck to hold it. hahah





Now I´ve got my registration!

Awesome to see an ol' Ford being loved acrossed the great pond. Whats the tag above the driver's door say on the inside of the cab? is that the official Import approval i have Heard Germany has? I forget the exact name i have some step sibblings who live around Frankfurt. Dad always had to make sure what he set was or would be accepted for import. At one point he just sent money.

Haha, no that is a control tag for an oil and filter change from way back in ´78 You mustn´t put any special tags on an imported vehicle over here. But there are enough other limitations on imports...I had to change the sealed beam headlights to European H4 units, and also had to get the parkinglight out of the blinker because it´s only allowed to be white, for example.

Wow thank you! I´ve been born and raised in Germany. That´s from browsing American car sites on the internet all night

As for now I want to drive my bump over the summer as my daily driver. Over winter I need to continue to paint the underside of it with POR15 and need to paint the bumper white and so on......

Congrats on getting your registration for the truck, I know it can be a real pain to get it. Did you also get the hitch registered for a real tow weight?
Mine is allowed to tow 750kg because they didnot have records showing it being build for heavier loads

Very nice work! I wish I had your metal working skills. Mine are slim to none. Anyways, you also have made me decide to blow more money on roof lights. They look so sweet and I figure on my flat bed it wood add a nice commercial look to it. Thanks for all the updates! Was a blast reading about the progression. Good luck during the winter!

Little update.

1rebmem here on FORDification.com told me which wax he used on his absolutely amazing ´68 F100. So I also bought some Meguiar´s Paint Cleaner, Polisher and Gold Class Wax and gave it a try on my truck.

Applied it on the front clip only so far. You can see the difference between the front and the doors. However, the pictures don´t do justice to the actual result..
