Very cool! One thing that I noticed you say is that you had a flat spot, that would be the timing, too big of a carb, or the stall speed of the torque converter is too low. 2500 would be good. But it might take a while to tune the timing but when you get it right, YOU WILL KNOW You probably know all that though and I typed all of this up for nothing. I can only imagine how it feels to be put in a magazine after all those countless hours in the shop. How did you get your truck into the magazine anyways?
Mike, I just went through this whole thread to see how it came to be. Your truck and the work you did to it is great. Congratulations on the finish of your project and the magazine feature. You are right, this is still the best place for bumps.

Well my dad called me and said, "did you know it hit the stands?" I said, "what!" I got the word last week that it made the cover ,but I had no idea when it would hit the stands. I couldn't be more happy. As I stated in the article, this website was an important tool for me to get this truck done on my own. I told the editor Tim Bernsau that "Fordification" had to be mentioned in the article. Which it was. You guys out there on the forum gave me so much information when I needed it, It was priceless. Its time for me to go see if I can score some copies at the bookstore. Talk to yall later.
Does anyone have a link to the online version of the magazine story? I searched a little but didn't find it. Maybe they don't have the webpage updated yet?

Good question! I asked Tim about that and he said the website usually gets updated after the magazine hits the stands. I'll be watching it my self. Here is where we should see it under the feature tab.
Where was your truck when they recognized it and decided to put it in a magazine? That had to be cool to hear someone say that they want your truck in a mag.

I've been getting a lot questions about this. I simply emailed both "Custom Classic" and "Classic Truck" and in my email I explained why I think they should do a feature on it. I got a great response back "CCT" from John Gilbert who at the time was the lead editor of the magazine. He asked me the story behind it and explained to him that this was a home built truck that was not of the common Chevy 67-72 type. I think he agreed. "Classic Truck" never responded. So thats how it all happened.
In discussions over the phone with John, I expressed to him the fact that these 67-72 Ford trucks seem to get little coverage and attention. This was an observation years prior to starting my build five or so years ago. It just so happens both magazines were having a build off of these year trucks. Pure coincidence. It was a great topic of discussion on how each one of those trucks were being built. One of my biggest hopes was to get the truck into a magazine and let people see what can be done with this era truck on a "common man" budget. The truck has no special bells and whistles. The modifications to the body is what I have the most invested, and thats my time. Thats why this site was so valuable to me. I cant count the times I would scroll through the (Engine, Electrical, Interior, and all them) forums, start at the first post and read through all the questions and responses. Thats how I learned about this truck. Thanks Keith! The driveline is all stock except for headers! I can go on and on, but I had a goal to do the best I could with my abilities and budget constraints. It was and will always be a hobby for me. Not sure whats next!
