71 comin along.
so far this is what i have done:
replace the tss
replace the steering wheel
radius arm bushing
replace bench seat
ordered door panels and arm rest
got newer tires and a aluminum rims
ordered center caps
cut off stock exhaust from glass packs and installed dumps
installed a huge air filter
rewired the brakes and lights to work properly
installed a hood seal
installed newer door seals
installed carpet, door trim
removed bwest coast mirrors and installed sport style mirrors.
this is all about a week and half of work and i have only cracked the surface. will post pics of the befores and afters this week sometime. the 67 has taken a turn to be sacrificed for the 71. it will be giving the bed, hood, fenders, wiring harness (for the f-600 gauge with tache and vacumn) and what ever else i feel i can use to rebuild the 71 with. i also have a set of bucket brackets and a pair of 77 cougar bucket that match up perfectly to put in at a later time as well. also, thanks to a member here, i have a b&m ratchet shifter to be installed. i have collected parts for about 4 years now to make the truck that i want and have now started the process. wish me luck.

Re: 71 comin along.
well since i changed out all the sheet metal and figured out the problem with my lights and guages it's now finally time to remove the engine and tranny to refresh them. while they are out i will give the engine bay a good cleaning and paint job. also, while that is happening i will install my new firewall cover as well. i will post more picks as i go.

Re: 71 comin along.
so, i got the engine to the machine shop today. gonna have a valve job and resurface done on the heads. the usuall on the block (cleaned, homed, freeze plugs, bearings and so on), having the crank cleaned and polished (unless i can find a 390 crank). he inspected the pistons and they are still in very good shape he said. i told him to take his time cause i'm in no rush because i will need the room in the garge to start the body work for the truck to get it rerady for primer and paint.

Re: 71 comin along.
thanks papabug71. it's more of a time issue than a money issue. i keep searching and looking for for deals on parts and good labor. hopefully by the end of the year the 71 will be finished.

Re: 71 comin along.
What a difference in the comparison pics, your truck is already comin' along good. Were you planing on paint? With those rims and white paint give it a real sporty look.

Hey Hotrod,
I was looking at these pictures and realized that I had seen them before. I didn't know you were "71bump" on the FE forum. HA!
