well my bump is about to give up and die, the poor old 360 is on it last leg  . We moved 240 miles from Western Washington over the cascade Mt. range to Eastern Washington and it did fine until the last 30 miles when it started chugging and running really ruff, it already burned more oil than a deep-fat frier  but now it just don't run right anymore. Anyway I have a chance to buy a 77 Lincon Mark V with a 460 and c6 trany that runs and drives fine for $500.00 Right now it is a stock 360 truck so what do I need to swap in the 460? And a 77 is gong to have an EFI system on it so how hard is it to wire up so it willl run in the truck? Anyone who has done this kind of swap or has info about doing it I would really appreciate the help.

Thanks!!

Nice car and truck. Is that an original stick shift Aspen. Those are underrated cars like a lot of others, but they can sure make a nice ride.

Plenty of guys have swapped in 460's...I highly doubt a 77 has factory fuel injection though....87 yes...

About the Dodge.. Is that the same car basically as a Plymouth Volare? A buddy of mine in high school had a (I think) 77 Volare Road runner. 318 and a 4 speed.. That was a fun little car but when he had it they weren't popular at all...

i put a 460 based motor in my truck with a c6. you want motor mounts out of a dentside era truck that came with a 460, it was super simple to do this way and i already had a parts truck with them in it. I had to move my transmission crossmember back. i dont remember how far, seems like a couple inches. I belive that I have a c6 out of a car, and that would be why i had to move it. shorten the driveline. dont forget you have to change the exhaust.

if you dont have power brakes, might think about them when adding more power.

Sorry your right I was kinda tired when I posted that it was supposed to be EIS (electronic ignition system)

yes only the grills and tail light were different everything else was the same for the most part.

On the eis i believe it to be a wire up of the EIS Box to 12v + and switched 12v + not 100% on that.

I'm thinking by EIS you mean Duraspark or Duraspark II.

yes that would be correct "EIS" (electronic ignition system) would be the Duraspark system and from the looks of it, it was used in 77 so it's a good chance the Lincoln will have it. aftermarket would be a MSD system but more $$$. I'm wondering how hard it is to wire it into a 72 truck? From the looks of a web page on the Duraspark II system it's not supposed to be that bad....but this might be me in the near future..... :hmm:  :hmm:  :hmm: :help:

got em  just wish I had PS. Thanks for the info on your install I think this will be the way I go, I've always loved the power of a big block anyway!!

It is an easy swap. Depending on how long the lincoln C6 is, you might have to shorten your driveshaft. You need towers and mounts from a dent side 460 powered truck. The duraspark set up is great and an easy swap. Also, that lincoln should have PS and AC hanging on it so you will be set up there. Make sure you have a PS gear box and the correct lines for you truck. I put a 460 from a 97 E350 van in my truck so it came with serpentine belts. It took some time to find the right lines to mate that newer PS pump to my old PS box.

have fun

That is one great looking truck FoPar. I had a neighbor that had an aspen. It was one slick car.

Well good news! I was talking with the guy who has the lincoln today and he's willing to let it go for $300.00  so we shook on it and made plans to get together next weekend and do the deal. So I will end up with a strong running 460 and trany for next to nothing :woohoo:

I can't seem to find engine towers from a dent side 460 truck. I've gone to the junk yards and they don't have very many trucks at all :( anyone have some they would be willing to sell?

Cool thanks for the info... or for reminding me about Tonys. Think I might have a deal for some, we will see. Now we just need to move into our new place this weekend. New SHOP & GARAGE :hd: place to park/store and a place to work on them :woohoo: The old 360 just needs to live long enough to do a little more work and then it will be time to take it apart and get the truck ready for the 460!!!
