as some of you know, i've gotten this idea stuck in my head of using f600 fenders on a stepside and i've finally gotten most of the front clip(the outer portion anyway) assembled and half of the hood on. still looking at options for an engine. i was thinking about going the 390 route but i want something i can cruise in all night and not have to file for bankruptcy. so right now i'm thinking about going with a 302 or maybe a 300 with a beefed up top end. what do you guys think?

Looks interesting. You planning on using a big bump grille too? How close is the fender to the ground?

Staring to think you'll need some bigger wheels. meaning bigger rear wells. looks sorta like a fifties Effie but with bump dimensions and looks. ![Thumbs up ](./images/smilies/icon_thumright.gif)

That's what I was thinking too. If it were mine I would make it 4x4 with some huge mud tires

Re: some pictures of the (insert nickname here) 1969 f100/600
problem is that big tires cost -_- . the 295/50's already cost enough as is and mud tires go up from there. i need to bolt up the wide tires on the front and see how those look. keep in mind the front fenders will suck in some when i finish bolting them on.

Re: some pictures of the (insert nickname here) 1969 f100/600
as of now i'm leaning toward building a 300 to put drop in the beast right now. 4 barrel and offy intake, header, better cam and such. it has a 3.5:1 9" under it right now but i have a 3.70:1 laying around if i want a little more power. what about lowering the front 1-1.5"? give it a little more agressive look. or maybe a 1 inch drop in the front and a 3 inch drop in the back. i'll have to play around some and get the proportions right.

I think it kind of looks like a lobster. Skinny in the back with big claws up front.

Re: some pictures of the (insert nickname here) 1969 f100/600
i changed out the front wheels to the 295/50's and it looks 1000000% better. i'm thinking i may go with a set of these down the road though
![Image](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/cobraracer2009/51-5183S35.jpg)
i can get them in the same size and i think they would look alot better. questions is now do i go high or lower?

Re: some pictures of the (insert nickname here) 1969 f100/600
time for some actual updates
starting off with the wheels. i've gotten on of the front switched over (it started to rain before i could switch both.) and i must say it is the way to go at this height or lowered.
![Image](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/cobraracer2009/IMG_2527.jpg)
![Image](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/cobraracer2009/IMG_2528.jpg)
![Image](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/cobraracer2009/IMG_2529.jpg)
next big problem is the grill. it has some clearance issues with the bumper mount at the end of the frame. how big of an issue would it be if i cut it offed and capped it?
![Image](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/cobraracer2009/IMG_2530.jpg)
you can see how much further it has to drop.
![Image](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/cobraracer2009/IMG_2531.jpg)
i would rather not have to cut the bottom bar off of the grill to make it fit.
![Image](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/cobraracer2009/IMG_2532.jpg)
nice big area for tires. i have yet to mock up the inner fenders.
![Image](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/cobraracer2009/IMG_2534.jpg)
never thought a 295/50 would look that small
![Image](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/cobraracer2009/IMG_2535.jpg)
this is the part of the frame that is in the way.
![Image](http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y127/cobraracer2009/IMG_2536.jpg)
i don't have the radiator mounts in yet so that would buy me maybe 1 1/2 inches but that's still short of the 3-4 i need. any ideas? the bumper mount is going to be unusable with this front end anyway.
that's it for now.

Re: 08-25 update with pictures.
I would look at the front of an f600 see how its bumper mounts and go that route.

Re: 08-25 update with pictures.
you could cut the frame off to make the grill fit. and then use the front bumper brackets from the f350 2wd.
are you going to keep the fender splashes on the front fender by the doors? or take them off?

probably take them off and run the running board to the bottom of the fender.
