One of the three 'jaws' on my cordless drill slipped down in to the chuck. So now the three jaws aren't in line and thus the bit isn't centered even though it will still tighten down.
Any suggestions on how to fix this or is it time for new??
btw, this is on a 19.2V Craftwmant cordless drill.
Thanks much!

Re: Help with fixing drill 'chuck'
i don't think it canbe fixed . just replaced. inside the chuck at the bottom is a screw. you put a screwdrive rin it and loosent he screw to get the chuck off. and then you unscrew the chuck after the screw comes out. installation is the oppisite of removal. i have never been able to do this myself the stupid screw is too tight for me to get loose. i have one sitting here that needs the chuck changed but i cant do it.

Yeah, I noticed that screw too and haven't been able to get it loose either.

The screws retaining the chuck have a left hand thread. Try turning it clockwise.

Chucks are rebuildable, they come apart. The outer collar is a mild press fit over the jaws. Remove the chuck with an allen wrench tightened in the jaws and a hammer whack and using the key force the chuck as far open as it will turn then pop the collar off. Assembly is just a matter of timing the jaws correctly and pressing the collar back on.
