It has an Oragon title, so I'm thinking it was an Oragon state work truck, and it must have been orderd that way cause it's orange everywhere and nobody in their right mind would order that color ![Laughing ](./images/smilies/icon_laughing01.gif)

Looks like the Oregon boys had some rustout or damage repair done to the firewall. It also coulda been a logging crews truck i suppose, The orange would make it more vissable to the truckers coming down the mountains.
when i was in Medford in '04 they had some forestry trucks painted a lime/avecadoe green that where 67-72 crew cabs.

My friend stopped by today to scavange some parts from the '68 for his '67, his is a 6 cyl. with a 4 speed, pretty cool truck. He's a member here, in fact he's the one who told me about this site

re: The begining updated March 25/08 ROAD TRIP!
Not too much of an update here but I've rebuilt a dana 44 disc front end and it's almost ready to go in.
The cummins block has been hot tanked and crack checked, as well as the crank and head, going to start assembly soon.
Still undecided if it's going auto or 5 speed, I have both transmissions
The injection pump is going in for a check and performance upgrade this week, the rebuilder is a friend of mine and I will probably trade him my propane system for the pump work He wants my engine too, so I might get a set of 75hp injectors and a turbo for that.
The new cab is ready to go to the blaster, it's stripped, just a couple of broken bolts left to drill out. It's going to be glass beaded and epoxycoated, all the body pannels will be done eventually I want the cab first so I can fit the engine before paint.
I will get some pics soon, today I'm dealing with a sick kid and waiting for UPS to bring the new stainless exhaust for my wifes '05 Mustang GT

just log in as a guest and surf away, lots to see there.
Ok so the plan is drive train and ever thing but body work first, Spring will be the start of a cummins 12V install, cab mounts, front disc set up and any other gremlins hiden in there. I have a good friend that has agreed to do the body and paint, his work has been featured on Discovery channels Biker Build off. He said my creative input ends after choosing colors! Here's my dirt bike tank (used 2 seasons) that he did for me in an afternoon. Of course pictures don't do it justice

I have to say I didn't see the episode he was in, it may be the one although he is pretty secretive he said he tried to stay out of camera view. His name is Jeff and he painted Goldhammers bike.

Here's some pics of the 44 with some new parts, have to get tie rods and put on the calipers still
Also there's a shot of my fancy home made vent filter

Thanks John, I like the standard for durability, but autos are so easy to drive(for the wifey)
Here's a couple shots that make my wife very nervous
I used the press at work to press in the new ball joints and decided to give her car an oil change while there. She hates these pics cause I said any of the machines in there could make short work of her new ride
I wish that shop was mine and full of Bumps, you can only see about a 1/4 of it's size.

re: The begining updated June 8/08
Well "braking news"
I got the disc front axle in and plumbed, took it for a spin and I was unimpressed with the braking power
Power discs should stop pretty good, it wouldn't even lock 'em up
I knew the rears needed some attention but holy $%^& they're bad!, check out what I found
![Image](http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg166/jjames72/100_0752.jpg)
![Image](http://i248.photobucket.com/albums/gg166/jjames72/100_0755.jpg)
just a little leak in there, the backing plates weren't even wet on the outside either
then the worst part, the circled area is the seal surface, about as smooth as a skate park, you can barely make it out in the pic, so that axle is toast, at least I have another one. I hope it's ok.
So my afternoon consisted of making up new swear words cause the old ones weren't working anymore

re: The begining updated July 21/08
well some ok news, turns out there were speedy sleeves on the spindles but still very rough shape underneath them, I also had a look at the diff and I could move the entire carrier a 1/8 inch side to side, I was told the diff races likely spun in the housing so a few more new swear words
,
Then I took a look at my other axle, 3.73s I need 4.10s
My current 4.10s are too worn to waste time swapping to another axle.
So for now I'll just re shim the diff (if the races didn't spin) and slap'er back together
All I wanted was to take it camping![Rolling Eyes ](./images/smilies/icon_rolleyes.gif)

Re: The begining updated July 21/08
It's been a while and thought I'd give a little update
I've been useing the crew as a daily driver and having a blast with it but it's time to get started, all I've done lately is change the seats, install a stereo and trailer wiring. The seats are from a 2000 Ford Super Duty. Today the insurance will come off and the new DD will be a .... well... a Chev pickup but it only temporary!
The new rear doors and door panels have been media blasted and epoxy coated, when the Chev gets trailer wiring the new cab, box, hood and front doors will be on their way. Here's a couple seat shots.
Loaded up and going camping
