Homemade Hoist!
Ok, I needed some kind of hoist for the bed swap and engine reinstall that is coming up. So when my old job was getting rid of some pallet racking, I snagged some peices for myself.
This stuff sat around for awhile till today, I got off my ass and set it all up,.
Everything is set up for a 1000 pound safe lift, probably could do more, but wont ever find out.
Cant wait till next weekend to try it out!

Thanks, I will take some pics while I swap the bed, or at least take the old one off.
I had 4 people helping when I took the new bed off of its truck, and we were struggling, these things are amazingly heavy, and the shortbeds are no lighter it seems.
Hopefully this lift makes things a little easier this time!

Have you built a sling for pulling the bed yet? have any more of that metal shelving legs laying around?

Yeah The last two times I moved the one I am going to put on my truck it was just 3 of us. Me, My Brother, and my Dad. I do not recommend it.

That bed you are about to put on your truck, well, I took that thing off of the ol F250 by myself. I lifted it w/ my shop jack and then scooted it off the frame where the tailgate area was resting on the ground. Then I just got up between the front of the bed and the cab and lifted it up until it was up off the frame and standing on end. STRONG LIKE BULL!

I'm an engineer and the only problem I see is how strong the two beams are that the chain goes around. I'm not worried about them bending down, but I am worried about them moving toward each other. Can you wedge a piece of 2x4 cut to the correct width and then screw it in through the posts?
