got to work on the 67 today 5-6-10 flat bed put on

Post by SteveC »

OK i got a day to go to dads and work on the 67 besides from having a complete pain just removing the heater box and replacing the heater core and then trying to get it back in then not being able to figure out my stupid turn signal problem it was a good day.

I got the new headlight harness upgrade installed, and even took some turtle wax to the oxidized paint and it came out really nice looking.

Things left to do

1. finish rebuilding carb
2. finish replacing heater hoses.
3. install new brake hoses and find were im losing fluid at.
4. get gas tank put back in and sealing it.

New headlights installed http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... 220023.jpg

Hard to see but old rear tire size is 10 x 16.5

Amazing what a little turtle wax can do

As far as i got before it got really late trying to fix the turn signals

not to much got done before i had to head home so i can go to To-shin do

carb cleaned put together and put on
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... ure129.jpg

leds put in instrument panel http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... ure128.jpg

I also got my turn signal proglem fixed. I traced out the wires but to no aval couldnt get it to work. Ended up running a hot when switch on wire with a inline fuse to the faulty circuit and now every thing works fine.
Guess it will work for now till i can put it completely apart.

ok todays work consisted of getting the gas tank hooked up and all coolent and oil changed... all that was done and after a little cranking it started right up and stayed running....first time i rebuilt a carb that didnt have to be pulled off and have some screw tightened

I pulled the drivers side back hub off thinking it was the axle leaking only to find out it was the wheel clynder puking brake fluid. Ordered two new rear clyinders for 25$ including shipping couldnt beat that considering the part store in Ogallala wanted 20 for one :x so hopefully next week ill have the brakes fixed and tach wired up. after that jsut needs a little carb tuning. Then i can go do my paper work and bring it home.

Sorry no pictures this time ... shoulda brought camera to show just how much junk was in that back drum. That thing had been leaking for a loooonnng time i pulled out around 1-3 pounds of dirt held together by brake fluid

Cool, Recently discovered that the single wide angle led's was my problem so i swapped to the greens. now i just need a new clear lense for the cluster.

yeah the single leds will do that to ya. and i just today found out that my cigar lighter has a light in it it goes out when the lighter is pushed in but i guess it makes the hole visible in the dark.

Im also starting to supect that my truck is a ranger with out all the trim on it. Either that or the first owner of the truck(own that took care of the truck before grandpa got his destuctive habbits a hold of it)Put a 67 ranger grill on it.

What is some of the signs that it is a ranger beside the polished aluminum grille?

Hey SteveC

That looks great !!!

If anyone's interested, I bought a whiteface kit from those guys for my '68 that I'm not gonna use...
I got an F600 panel from Redcap so I won't need them.
$10.00 and the ride...

Man, I just ordered a set. Oh well. I got the kit and the blue LED's to go with it. I think it will look good and definatly be brighter. I will be putting it in my '68 becasue the '72 is soon to be torn down for the frame up resto.

OK not to much got done but im updating cause i didnt get pictures of last week.
Well to start off the day my brake cylnders didnt come in so no brakes getting done

So i spent the day fixing the brakes and dads 72 ford n600 .. turns out it wasnt the master cylnder it was a lot and i mean a lot of air in the system.
After we got that fixed the fuel pump went out and we had to pull and replace it.
Anyway the only thing i got done on my truck was installing the tach on my truck, installing a new fuel neck gromet, and installing a cowel rubber gasket. so next week my wheel cylnders will be installed and ill plate and drive it home :D

Anyway here are pictures for last week

turtle wax is a amazing thing

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... 010009.jpg
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... 010008.jpg
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... 010007.jpg

The stuff i used to insulate

http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... 010016.jpg
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... 010015.jpg

Just a small idea of how dirty the brakes were, and this is after we cleaned them. The pads are like brand new since the cylnder was probally leaking for ever and Grandpa never fixed it.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... 010011.jpg

The most exciting thing was what i got from the junkyard in brule
I know they arnt for a 67 but i think they will look cool on my truck
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... 010002.jpg
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... 010001.jpg

I wish i could get a hold of the guy that use to live south of dads house. He
has a 71-72 f250 camper special ..blue /dark blue.
and a 70 red and white 2 tone with a camper on it.
Both have several parts i would like to get off of them.
http://i169.photobucket.com/albums/u223 ... 010004.jpg

Thank you all for looking at this long post
