That looks great Grant. Those wheels and redlines make it look like a Hot Wheels truck from 1968. Great idea. Can't wait to see the finished product.Buckinthebowtie wrote:Well, at long last here's an update with a pic! I finally got the truck back together enough so I can start on motor and trans mounts. This should be ride height on coilovers. Still gotta send out the back tires to have the redlines put on em which made all the difference with the 18-inch American Racing AR 500s as far as I'm concerned-I Love em!

Yeah I started cutting out the tops of the inner fenders on mine. I think I'm gonna get some new stock rear wheel housings that go in the bed and box em in with those so it looks factory!customcrewcab wrote:the lower you go the more problems you have. i had to cut my inner fender wheels when i put the 2" drop spindles on. its not that hard to box them back in but the hood mount is right there. i am not sure what marz68 going to do. i think maybe tilt the hood forward. i just cut a rough hole.
Here's my chassis now!

I haven't been following the build (as the stores dont carry that magazine around here) but why exactly did you kick it up in the front?

I kicked it up 2-inches in the front to get it to sit that much lower, so up front there is the Fatman Mustang II, 2-inch drop spindles, 2-inch kick up, all riding on 255/45/R18 tires on 18x8 wheels.layedout72 wrote:I haven't been following the build (as the stores dont carry that magazine around here) but why exactly did you kick it up in the front?

I also moved the front axle centerline forward 1 1/4-inches to because i didn't like where the wheel sat in the wheel well.
Here's the before and after.

I kinda figured that's why ya did it. Very nice work. I would subscribe if I had the money. I usually just take a look in stores unless there is a cool fold out poster or good tech article that I can actually use. Not saying your build articles are worthless, as they are very useful for those looking to do an MII swap on their trucks. I plan to do things a little differently though. VERY nice work, love that you moved the wheel up a bit, makes all the difference.

Project looks SWEET!
And I'm really envious of the shop you get to work/play in.
