If you look at the pic in the link you can see that there is a large gap between the roof panel and headliner support. There has been some damage to my roof and need to know if this gap is normal. It may be hard to see in the pic but the gap is about 1-1/2".

re: CrewCab Roof Question
I just pulled the headliner out of mine last night. If that is the support that runs right down the center from front to back then there is no gap on my 72. It runs right up agains the roof panel and seems to have a thin body seam caulk or something sandwiched in between in spots.
Just noticed yours is a crew cab and mine is not. Don't know if there is a difference...

re: CrewCab Roof Question
On the CrewCab there is the one you are talking about going from the rear view mirror area but it tees into a crossmember going from B-pillar (between front and rear doors) to B-pillar. And finally the third goes from about center of the rear door to the other rear door. The roof dosen't touch these supports anywhere, but the greatest gap (in center) is the 1-1/2". BTW the pic was taken from the right front foor opening looking towards the left rear door.

re: CrewCab Roof Question
Here's a couple of photos of the now departed 73 Crew roof. It looks like it's pulled away from the roof panel.

re: CrewCab Roof Question
The '73 is braced completely different from the '68, but it does appear that it also has a gap, albeit not as severe.

re: CrewCab Roof Question
Mine looked the same way on my 70. It's not like there was any spot welds to join the 2 and there was no way to re bend it to conform to the roof. I think there was a material spacer in mine to begin with that I threw out. So I just put my insulation between the brace and the roof then put up my new headliners in with no problems or noises.
