I had some great posts with awesome contributors from FTE, but I think some of the posts were getting clipped. I was seeking advice on my 390 rebuild and it seemed some replys were incomplete. I could just be imagining things, but no matter, I found this site and will be posting questions soon.
I have two '69 CS that were both built in San Jose, not to long between each other. One is a Ranger CS Vin# F25HRD96226 the other is a Custom Cab Vin #F25YRD84426. They both have 390's courtesy of a rebuild on the CC some time before I acquired it.
I'm going to build up one great truck from the two and currently have the Ranger almost completely stripped to frame at my fathers is IL. Made a trip to IL from CO in my CC and got 29 miles into Kansas on I-70 and her C6 said no more... I went another 160 miles in 1st before dad and the trailer showed up in Salina, KS. I'm going to rebuild the stock 390 in the Ranger, (which had only 59k original miles) to a nice strong daily driver. I've got a 600cfm Edel, going to get a Edel Performer Intake, Hedman headers, CraneCam 343901, Cloyes double roller timing set, KB150 Pistons with Molly rings, and I'm seeking options for a dissy. I'll be driving mostly in CO over 5200' so I'm shooting for a 9.6:1 static CR and will be upgrading the C6 with a street shift kit, 3.54 Dana 60 with ~31" tires.
I've been interested in the Performance Distributors DUI replacement, but have had a running post on FTE about using a Duraspark with an after-market Ignition Module. I'll post on Engine Forum with this question next.
